By shortening the wick, you allow it to burn more slowly and evenly, helping to mitigate any smoke marks around the edge of the glass. **Realign the wick** ?After extinguishing your candle, and once the wax has cooled slightly, you can re-centre and straighten the wick to ensure an even burn.
